'Oh my heart!!': Texan woman rescues an emaciated dog she found on the side of the road; saves his life– starting with a Buccee's burger

    Dog - On the way home from vacation we saw this sweet boy on the side of the road... sitting like this. He had given up on people, on help, on life.

    Dog - He was skin and bones. I had never seen a dog this close to starving to d

    Dog - When I walked to him he flattened himself to the ground. He didn't move or make a sound...for awhile. ***

    Dog - We called a few local vets but no one could see him.

    Dog - We decided that if he could eat /drink for us, we would take him home with us. A 9 hr drive.

    Organism - Laying in my lap was the only space we had, but he was resting in the AC, and I think he finally realized we were helping him.

    Dog - I just kept hoping he was OK and not sick. He wasn't moving.

    Glasses - Then I kissed him and he reached up and kissed me back!

    Dog - We stopped to give him a bath, several baths...pulling ticks and fleas off of him. Workers said the stretch of interstate we found him on was known for dumping dogs. He looked like he had been out there awhile.

    Dog - He was so weak he could barely stand and wouldn't walk. So we carried him.

    People in nature - We stopped at a Buccee's. He ate some chicken legs, a burger, ans drank 2 liters of water. He wagged his tail whenever he got kisses!

    Dog - He promptly went back to sleep in my lap when we got back on the road. B

    Dog - I wondered how long he had been living alone in the wooded/forrested median...and what monsters did this to him.

    Glasses - But we had him now...and he was home.

    Dog - Vet said he was 28 lbs., malnourished, and he would probably have did within the next day if we hadn't rescued him. He needed food, water, T and rest. Basic needs.

    Dog - He got along with all of our other animals (we have alot!).

    Dog - He slept in our bed. He slept more than he was awake at first.

    Dog - He slept hard...feeling a soft, warm bed for the first time, maybe ever!

    Dog - He watched everything.

    Comfort - And again got along with all of our dogs and cats.

    Dog - We made him his own bed in the living room...a basket. He loved it!

    Dog - He curled up alot.

    Dog - Sweet boy!

    Comfort - He slept some more...

    Dog - M ...and more.

    Dog - He would sit looking out any door if someone left.

    Dog - I He would get scared if we spoke loudly, yelled, or even laugh loudly.

    Comfort - Vet said he can start vaccines when he gains some weight and is a bit healthier.

    Nose - I can't change how his life was before or what happened to him.

    Dog - I can feed him, give him a warm bed, and give him love! Sally
